Juneteenth 2025 in the City of Mobile was a mix of celebrations that kicked off with pride as StandUp Mobile and Vivian’s Door hosted Community Conversations with Jarrod Benjamin Ph.d as guest speaker the morning of June 19th.
Dre Day hosted a Juneteenth celebration entitled “We Gon’ Be Alright” at Great Day Latte the afternoon of June 19th. While the turntables were spitting vibes by the one-and-only DJ Sham, one of Mobile’s rarest gems-a female DJ; Boogie Chicks Food Truck presented delicacies outside, which made the day party a fun-hybrid indoor/outdoor event.
The City of Mobile also held a Juneteenth Celebration at Mardi Gras Park and Parade June 19th. In attendance were live drummers, local highschool bands, line dancing and games/crafts for the kids.
UpLift Mobile was also in attendance at the City of Prichard Watermelon Festival on June 21 which had food, music, fun and games as truck loads of watermelons were given away.
Miss Juneteenth America Scholarship Pageantry Program went beautifully with Savannah Jones crowned as Junior Miss Juneteenth America 2025 and Victoria Howell crowned Teen Miss Juneteenth America 2025.
The Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association (MAMGA) held their Juneteenth Celebration Saturday June 21st and the many attendees included vendors, children, adults belonging to various groups like the Order of Kahos, Misfits, Drug Education Council, JJ’s Confection Connections, Kappa Zeta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., Delta Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Alabama Department of Public Health, Little Little Creations, and Eta Phi Chapter of Chi Eta Phi.
Many Juneteenth celebrations around the country presented a solemn reminder that in spite of the reasons for Juneteenth, unifying and empowering eachother is the key to strategically moving forward.
