Spiro Cheriogotis took the stage as Mobile’s 109th Mayor November 3, 2025. As a former Mobile County District Judge, Cheriogotis brings a judicial and experienced background to the city’s top office. In the inauguration ceremony held at Government Plaza, he officially succeeded three-term Mayor Sandy Stimpson, ushering in a new era for the port city’s administration. The ceremony simultaneously seated the seven elected members of the Mobile City Council for the coming term.
Mayor Cheriogotis delivered a robust inaugural address that outlined the philosophical framework of his new administration. The core of his message reinforced the themes that defined his successful campaign: a commitment to effective and transparent government and a singular focus on ensuring that all Mobilians can share in success and opportunity.
Alongside the new Mayor, the legislative authority of the city was officially seated. The full seven-member City Council was sworn in, providing the governing body that will work to implement the new administration’s agenda. C.J. Small, the representative for District 3, continues in his leadership role as the Council President.
The full governing body includes the following council members: Cory Penn (District 1), Samantha Ingram (District 2), C.J. Small (District 3), Ben Reynolds (District 4), Beau Fleming (District 5), Josh Woods (District 6), and Gina Gregory (District 7).
The ceremony concluded with the official signing of the oath documents, marking the legal transfer of authority. The newly constituted administration and City Council will begin their legislative term immediately.
