Mobile Marks 25th Anniversary of 9/11 With Citywide Tributes and the 19th Annual Never Forget Lunch

Date:

Twenty-five years after September 11, Mobile is pausing to look back. Across the city, community spaces, public memorials, and civic gatherings are marking a quarter-century since the attacks, reflecting on a generation shaped by frontline service and sacrifice.

As part of the citywide observances on Friday, September 11, 2026, local institutions are stepping up to take care of the people who wear the uniform. The Original Oyster House is bringing back its 19th Annual Never Forget Lunch, offering a free meal to local law enforcement officers, firefighters, and paramedics at both the Mobile Causeway and Gulf Shores locations from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for anyone in uniform or carrying a valid service ID.

That focus on community support extends directly into the day’s events. LifeSouth is setting up a blood drive at the Causeway location to collect at least 25 donations for regional hospitals, rewarding donors with a specialty t-shirt and a twenty-dollar e-gift card.

The wider community backing reaches across the region, too. Spots like the USS Alabama Battleship, Bellingrath Gardens and Home, Wind Creek, OWA Parks and Resort, The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf, the Exploreum, Waterville USA, Historic Blakeley State Park, and Visit Mobile are pitching in with swag, raffle prizes, and discounted tickets to honor the local workforce.
