Great Day Latte Hosts Queen Black and Poet Laureate Huggy Bear da Poet for LoDa Artwalk Showcase

Great Day Latte is setting the stage for downtown Mobile’s literary community on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., hosting the monthly Poetry Open Mic during LoDa ArtWalk.

The evening centers around featured guest Poetess Ashley Waller aka Queen Black for a powerful night of spoken word and original creative storytelling.

Presented by City of Mobile Poet Laureate Alex Jerome Lofton, Huggy Bear da Poet, in partnership with the Mobile Arts Council, the event showcases Mobile’s vibrant artistic talent.

“Poetry has a way of saying what our hearts sometimes can’t,” and this monthly open mic provides a dedicated, welcoming space for local artists and writers to share their work. Great Day Latte offers the ideal backdrop to support regional creators during the downtown LoDa ArtWalk series.
