Highpoint Park down in Eight Mile is getting ready for a big stretch this Saturday, September 19 2026 . From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., A Day of Unity & Fun in the Sun is taking over the grounds to mark a major milestone celebrating the City of Prichard’s history spanning 1925 to 2026.

Put together by District 1 Councilwoman Annie Williams and the District 1 Unity Organization, the free afternoon is built around neighborhood connection and old-school community pride.
Attendees heading out to 4328 Highpoint Blvd., can expect plenty to look at and do. The setup features a full neighborhood car show, live music rolling through the park, and local food vendors firing up the grills. For the kids and families, there’s a cakewalk, face-painting, and henna tattoos mapped out across the afternoon.
Since water features are part of the day’s lineup, organizers advise participants to wear or bring a swimsuit. Just remember to pack your own lawn chairs, blankets, and personal tents or umbrella to secure comfortable trackside seating for the duration of the event.
