Cleon Jones Celebrated at Kazoola Restaurant in Downtown Mobile

Mobile’s own Cleon Jones was the guest of honor at Kazoola “After 5” Seafood Fest this past weekend. On Sunday, July 5th, the downtown spot hosted a special community meet-and-greet dedicated to the hometown hero.

For Mobilians ,Jones remains a foundational pillar of the community . Beyond famously catching the final out for the 1969 “Miracle Mets” World Series championship team, his enduring legacy is his decades-long dedication to civic leadership and neighborhood restoration right here at home.

The event paired the celebration with a heavy kitchen layout , serving up fresh fish, shrimp, and oysters while a live DJ played throughout the evening.

Attendees gather at the service counter to enjoy the food offerings during the After 5 Seafood Fest at Kazoola.

It gave locals a chance to share space, take photos, and celebrate a living icon whose impact on and off the field continues to shape the city.
