The First Annual Play Day Giveaway brought an incredible wave of life to Azalea Road on Saturday, July 25, transforming a local block into a vibrant celebration for families preparing for the back-to-school season.
Organized by Karen McCants of TraePay’s Snacks and Sno-Balls and Alexander Austin of Big A’s Bando Brunch, the day was all about making sure neighborhood kids had what they needed. The community response was immediate. WrightWay Realty gave away 120 pre-packed school supply bags in just 20 minutes, quickly handing out over 90 extra items so no family was left empty-handed.
Down the line, businesses thrived in the summer heat. The Juice Palace completely sold out while keeping the crowd refreshed, and the entire Azalea Road corridor buzzed with good energy and music.
Kids lined up for fresh cuts from Don the Barber and gel manicures from Paige Bramble, cheering as The Dance Co. of Mobile took over the space to perform. It was a true grassroots win for the neighborhood.
